Carolina Brewmasters Club Meeting                                                     November 2, 2005

President

·         The next meeting will be held at the Mellow Mushroom on North Davidson Street at 6:30 on Wednesday December 7

·         It appears that the Oktoberfest didn’t keep people from brewing during October judging from the poll taken at the beginning of the meeting

·         Needless to say the Oktoberfest was an overwhelming success.  I want to personally thank every member, most especially the committee members, who dedicated long hours to make the event a success

·         It’s almost election time!!  Thus far the nominees for 2006 officer positions are:

o       President – Todd Bowman

o       VP Oktoberfest – Wayne Fricke

o       VP Competitions – Bill Lynch

o       VP Social Activities – Justin Mitchell,  Jason Randall

o       VP Education – Mike Ruff

o       VP Recruiting – Ben Dolphens, Steve Morgan

o       Secretary/Treasurer – Felton Dengler

Nominations will continue to be accepted by Roman Davis up until next meeting

·         October beer events:  A few members attended the world Beer Festival in Durham and the Asheville Brewgrass Festival and all reported that the events were very successful

  • Attendance was just under 5,000
  • Complete financial details are not available at this time but it is estimated that the club will contribute approximately $9,300.00 to charity
  • A lot of people put forth an awful lot of effort to pull this off.  The committee chairs and volunteers are to be highly commended; we couldn’t have done it without you!
  • At this time, we have set aside Saturday September 30 as the date for the 2006 Oktoberfest.
  • We’ve been approached by numerous organizations wanting to ‘assist’ us in putting on next year’s Oktoberfest.  We will weigh each offer carefully and do what we feel is in the absolute best interest of the club
